Wan Shi Tong Library - Avatar: The Last Airbender

Finally ready to showcase the most recent project I've been working on!
I re-created Wan Shi Tong's library from Avatar: The Last Airbender. I took a lot of inspiration from Ghibli-Esque environments, emphasizing stylized texturing. I hadn't had much practice with level design in Unity before this project and I wanted to take this as the perfect opportunity to change that.
All assets were created using Maya and Zbrush, and texturing was done in Substance Painter. The particle systems made for this project (heat distortion on the desert, floating dust, and god rays) were all created by me in the Unity URP. Gabriel Aguiar has a great tutorial on making Heat Distortion on his YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXCyVDEplyM
One of the biggest challenges I faced while working on this is the design discrepancies I noticed while re-watching the TV episode for reference. There would be instances where, in one shot, an item may be placed in a certain location but it would be somewhere different in another. I decided that I should focus on what works best for my composition in these instances.
If I were to continue this environment, I would add the other sections of the library including the calender room and the Fire Nation section. I'd also make this an interactive project where people run around the library themselves. For now, I'm happy with the exterior and main entrance.
I still have a lot to learn about Unity and 3D design as a whole, but I'm excited to see what comes next!
